The laser eye surgery is remarkably quick, approximately 30 minutes in total.
On Arrival
Following a final check with the surgeon our nursing care assistant will apply anaesthetic eye drops and you may be offered some medication to help you feel more relaxed. You will then be taken into the laser suite.
During Treatment
Your surgeon will explain the procedure and, when you are ready, will begin the treatment, which is performed as you lie back in a couch in the laser room. The laser includes a large machine with a microscope attached to it and a computer screen.
You should feel only very slight pressure on the eye as the procedure commences.
Immediate post treatment Procedure
After the treatment you will then relax in the recovery room with your eyes closed for 15-20 minutes. One of the ophthalmic care assistants will explain the post-operative instructions and after care with you at this time.
Your surgeon or senior optometrist will check your eyes one last time and you will then be allowed to go home.
